- byJeff Karoub, Tom Krisher, AP The Best North American Car award is ice cream on an already tasty pie for Hyundai: the company is already selling as Elantras as it can make. Acura TSX Delivers Luxury Feel For Less

Acura • Elyse Haid • January 10, 2012
Stylish sedan comfortable on the roadby Jim Kerr, Special to The StarPhoenix When Acura introduced the TSX sedan several years ago, I used to think of it as an entry-level car into the Acura lineup. Now, the new 2011 TSX has me thinking much differently. Although it is still one of the lower-priced cars in Acura's lineup, the TSX can also be seen as a "destination" vehicle - one that fills the needs and desires of many drivers who won't be seeking anything else.

A Hot Halo for Hyundai

Hyundai • Elyse Haid • January 10, 2012
The all-new three-door coupe: Veloster!by Andrew McCredie, Postmedia News Steve Kelleher isn't your average car company president. Dressed in jeans, a golf shirt and with a casual, self-effacing manner, the Hyundai Canada president is the antithesis of the hundred-dollar-haircuts that inhabit auto manufacturer executive suites. Which in many ways reflects the differences between the ascending Korean carmaker and long-established automakers, as Hyundai continues to push the boundaries in North America in terms of value, quality and ingenuity.

I had the opportunity to take a tour of GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck facility which currently builds the Buick Lucerne, Cadillac DTS and the Chevrolet VOLT. The tour itself was impressive and an eye opener seeing just how far we have come in the fifteen years since I last toured a vehicle assembly plant. After a very informative journey through the plant we received an open invitation to test drive many of the current models on the streets of Detroit.

GM Creates Recipe for Brakes That Shine

Chevrolet • Elyse Haid • December 19, 2011
Oshawa, Ontario (December 2, 2011) – A General Motors’ team of global brake experts is helping to make rusty brake rotors history by changing the chemical makeup of the components using a process that could double the life of rotors and save consumers hundreds of dollars The engineers developed an exclusive corrosion protection process that super heats the rotors at 560 degrees Celsius for a day in an oven the size of a tour bus. Inside the nitrogen-rich atmosphere, nitrogen atoms bond to the surface of the steel rotor, hardening and strengthening the rotor.
