Tahoe's lineup includes Canada's first full-size hybrid SUV. Tahoe Hybrid has revolutionized the category with its advanced 2-mode hybrid system that helped Tahoe Hybrid win the 2008 Green Car of the Year from Green Car Journal. In fact the benefits of the V8 gasoline-electric power hybrid system are so dramatic, Tahoe Hybrid earned better city fuel consumption ratings than the six-cylinder Toyota Camry.

Mechanical


The advantage of the 2-mode hybrid system is that it automatically selects the most efficient blend of power, based on demand, combining the 332 horsepower Vortec 6.0L V8 gasoline engine with electric power. Unlike many other hybrid systems, GM's system uses torque-based inputs to continuously determine the optimal propulsion configuration.


Safety


A reflection of Tahoe's commitment to safety can be seen in the fact that it earned the highest possible U.S. government frontal and side crash test ratings - five stars. † And it isn't only the occupant protection that's advanced. The newly available side blind zone alert uses radar technology to detect a vehicle entering a blind spot.
